Welcome, friend, please step inside….

Hexenhaus (Witch’s cottage in German) started long before the website, before the shop even! We were searching for the kinds of things we wanted for exploring or own practice of Witchcraft. Items that were not only useful in our magical and spiritual exploration, but were also pleasing to the eye, the touch, all the senses, really. 

We started with our besoms, round brooms made in the style of old Europe and used in a variety of magical practices for removing negative energy and as a spiritual bridge to other realms. Hand tied using no nails or glue, each one unique. Soon we added our handmade wooden and antler runes for fortune telling and spiritual guidance. More things came as we explored more materials, most recently adding our distinctive tooled leather encased bottles, a beautiful and practical decanter for ceremonial libations. 

Before long, friends, and then friends of friends, began contacting us. They were seeking items of distinction and we were more than happy to help. Some wanted the things we were already making, some brought ideas for custom pieces and this was truly exciting! We are always up for a challenge! Some local Occult and Metaphysical shops found out about us and ordered items to offer to their clientele and we were faced with a new challenge, creating consistent, high quality items in volume, that still captured the essence or our original goal, creating tools to grace the altar and enhance the spiritual practice for those who owned them. 

An opportunity presented itself in 2017 and with the help of our friends, along with generous supporters on Go Fund Me , we were able to open a shop at the Koroneburg Renaissance Festival. A little cottage of our own, offering our handcrafted wares as well as a carefully curated collection or items that fitted precisely into our vision of what a Witch’s cottage should have. We began providing magical service as well! Card and rune readings, Hexensachel (charm bags), dressed candles and a variety of other things, Hexenhaus was able to become more than just a retail establishment, we became a true part of a small and thriving village. We are truly proud or what we accomplished there.

Hexenhaus online is the newest offering, one that, we hope, continues to reflect our commitment to quality. The online shop allows us to offer our creations and services to a far wider audience. We make things… because we love to make things, it’s our way, soul and center. The pleasure that the things we make and the things we find give to others is a part of that love. It is, in many ways, what gives us purpose and allows us to be of service to our friends and the magical community in general. For us, Witchcraft is a deep and abiding part or what we do, every — single — day. 

What is in the future for Hexenhaus?

We continue to perfect and innovate our own products, search for new and exciting offerings from other makers, and explore new frontiers and materials. As we grow, new options will be added to this website. Presently plans include a blog and perhaps even a podcast! We hope you will continue to visit our little Witch’s cottage and see what new magics we are working on.
